Keyi Cheng, a recent graduate in Master of Physiotherapy Studies from The University of Queensland and an ex-dancer (and hypermobile herself), is passionate about advancing in the field of physiotherapy with a specific focus on hypermobility rehabilitation.
Her academic background, including a Bachelor of Science in Biology (Honours) from Pace University, USA (completed which living in New York during the COVID pandemic), has laid a solid foundation for her interest in complex musculoskeletal conditions. Her education at UQ exposed her to various physiotherapy disciplines, while her clinical experience in Queensland’s leading hospitals and UQ’s private clinic has broadened her understanding of different conditions, including musculoskeletal, cardiorespiratory, neurological, and orthopaedic issues. This diverse exposure has enhanced her ability to deliver patient-centred, evidence-based care and refined her problem-solving skills.
Keen to provide personalized care, Keyi is an advocate of a multidisciplinary approach, ensuring treatments are tailored to each patient’s unique needs. She will focus on advancing her skills through sustained training, hands-on clinical experience, and professional development in this specialized area, aiming to provide effective care for hypermobile individuals.
Keyi is immersed in the extensive “Not Just Bendy Way” training program with practice principal Sharon Hennessey and will be attending the EDS ECHO program, organised through the EDS society. She works closely with our senior team and collaborates with the full team of Not Just Bendy practitioners.
Outside her professional life, Keyi enjoys exploring new places, staying active in the gym, and engaging in sports activities with friends.
