Elissa completed her Bachelor of Exercise Science degree in 2017 and her Physiotherapy degree, Master of Physiotherapy at Griffith University in 2019. The Bachelor of Exercise Science is a 3-year degree which has provided fundamental skills and knowledge in the physical, biomedical, and psychological sciences of exercise prescription for rehabilitation and health maintenance. In total, both degrees took 5 years to complete.
She began her career in a musculoskeletal private practice. Through this, she gained extensive experience in seeing a diverse caseload of clients ranging from acute to chronic injuries, neurological rehabilitation, NDIS, orthopedic, pre-post-surgical, paediatric and return to sport patients.
Through these exposures, she started to grow a strong interest in assisting patients with hypermobility. She has an accreditation in machine pilates and dry needling as well as clinical experiences in running classes including Pilates reformer, fitness falls prevention and functional exercise classes.
She is proactive in developing her professional development experience including attendance of regular training and mentoring sessions with Sharon Hennessey, the Principal Physiotherapist at Not Just Bendy. As well as attendance of EDS (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome) ECHO allied health program in 2022 which provides evidence-based practice for management of different presenting conditions of hypermobility and EDS patients. She has an encouraging, caring, patient-centered approach to cater her treatment towards an individual’s rehabilitation and personal goals. In combination with evidence-based practice and multi-modal treatment options to optimize hypermobility patient’s outcome.
Elissa is available throughout the week including every second Saturday. She is also able to offer home visits and telehealth consultations if desired.
Outside of work, she loves to visit cafes and trendy restaurants, enjoy a nice stroll on the beach and explore nature.
